Gwenetta Como Sands – Managing Partner
Gwenetta is an accomplished professional with a rich background in corporate communications, investor relations, and innovation in the biotechnology industry and academia. She holds a BA in Biology from UC San Diego and has dedicated her career to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, particularly within the university setting.
Ms. Sands has over 10 years of experience as a director of corporate communications and investor relations in the biotechnology industry. This role involved managing relationships with investors and overseeing the company's communication strategy. Following her tenure in the biotech industry, Ms. Sands transitioned to the academic sector, where she spent over 20 years working in university technology transfer, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
In her role at the Technology Transfer Office (TTO), she was instrumental in promoting and facilitating the transfer of university-developed innovations for the benefit of the university community and the public. As the director of program development, she created educational and training programming for students, entrepreneurs and also mentored student interns and startup teams. Her work in this role contributed to the development of student-driven innovations.
